Our Aboriginal Services Strategy 2020–25 outlines our commitment to becoming a client-centred organisation for First Nations people. The strategy intersects with our Reconciliation Action Plan 2023–25 to achieve meaningful changes for First Nations people in the Victorian justice system.
The strategy guides us in ensuring First Nations self-determination is embedded within our service design and delivery. The objectives of the three focus areas are to be culturally appropriate and minimise barriers in accessing our legal services:
- Actively engage with First Nations peoples to increase access to services.
- Be client-focused and make informed decisions, based on evidence, to improve the quality of and access to services for First Nations peoples.
- Support our practice partners to improve the services delivered to First Nations peoples.
Measures to evaluate the success of the strategy will be developed in consultation with Victorian First Nations communities.
